King Soopers Opens 153rd Store in Arvada Where It All Started

King Soopers and the City of Arvada invite the public to join us in celebrating the official Grand Opening of the King Soopers Marketplace at Candelas on Wednesday, May 9th at 9:00 am. (Soft opening at 6am).

“We can’t think of a better location to open our 153rd store than in Arvada where it all started for us in 1947 with our first King Soopers,” said Dennis Gibson, President of King Soopers. “As a Colorado company we are very excited about serving this community as a solution for much of what their family needs,” Gibson said.

We will be presenting the Food Bank of the Rockies with $150,000 check. Food Bank of the Rockies helps nearly half a million people each year. They serve 30 counties in Colorado and the entire state of Wyoming. More than 134,000 meals each day help our neighbors facing hunger from the food bank.

About the Marketplace

The eleventh Marketplace statewide, the 124,000-square-foot King Soopers Marketplace at Candelas is located at the Northwest corner of Indiana and 90th Ave. The Marketplace offers a one-stop shopping location that meets the needs of today’s busy, health-conscious shopper. Traditional grocery offerings have been expanded to feature locally grown produce and organic selections as well as beautiful outdoor floral; fresh prepared meals; specialty food bars such as sushi, Murray’s cheese, Pan Asian, The Chicken Company and Pizza Romano. Boars Head meat will be available in the deli, as well as more than 5,000 natural and organic items throughout the store. The bakery department will have fresh Artisan bread, delicious gourmet cakes as well as a gluten free section. The Meat and Seafood Department will feature “Gourmet Easy for You” options that will help you prepare family meals in minutes. In addition to food items, the Marketplace will sell quality general merchandise, including apparel, home goods, dinnerware, small appliances and much more.

The store will also feature a Starbucks with an outdoor seating area, a drive through pharmacy and 18 fuel pumps. We have great new time saving options and they are; ClickList, an online ordering and pick up service that makes life a little easier, Scan Bag Go technology that allows you to scan and bag items from a smart phone or a store provided device as you shop, and King Soopers Delivery which will be able to deliver groceries to your door within 2 hours. The store will have 250 new positions to serve our Arvada customers.
