Olde Town Arvada Will Transform Into A Winter Wonderland

The Arvada Resiliency Task Force and the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District (BID) announced today that to continue supporting local businesses in the COVID-19 recovery effort, the BID and the City of Arvada are transforming Olde Town into a holiday wonderland with continued street closures, outdoor activations and open container ordinances in effect. Plans have been developed that adhere to local health regulations and will continue to be modified as circumstances change.

“While we continue to monitor the evolving situation and take steps to support the guidelines of the public health agencies, the Olde Town Arvada BID and the City of Arvada know it is critical to continue to do everything possible to support small businesses during this time,” said Joe Hengstler, Executive Director of the Olde Town Arvada BID. “We want to give the public every opportunity to social distance and be safe while continuing to frequent their favorite Arvada businesses.”

A synthetic ice skating rink will open in Arvada’s Olde Town Square on Friday, November 27, 2020 and will run Monday through Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m. Colorado Department of Public Health (CDPHE) guidelines will be followed to allow for a safe and enjoyable time for all participants.

Online reservations are required.
No more than 12 people are allowed on the rink at a time based on CDPHE’s social distancing calculator.
Masks are required at all times.
No eating or drinking on the ice skating rink or while checking in and putting on skates.
High touch areas will be sanitized hourly.
Social distancing is required and will be enforced.
Reservation refunds will be available for cancellations due to COVID-19 exposure or positive test results.
Skating rink attendants will be masked and following all proper safety precautions.

Additionally, visitors will be able to enjoy a Holiday Pop-Up Market within the street closures and around the district. Several enthusiastic community partners, including HomeGuard Roofing and Restoration, Team Rubicon and Country Financial, are coming together with the Olde Town Arvada BID to source and build German Christmas market-style huts which will be placed around Olde Town.

“It is our hope that these additional Holiday Pop-Ups will give our businesses the opportunity to both gain greater visibility, and allow customers to safely shop in an outdoor, open air environment.” said Hengstler. The market will begin on Friday, November 27 and run through December 24, 2020.

As COVID-19 began affecting communities across America, organizations throughout Arvada united to create the Arvada Resiliency Task Force. The taskforce has supported efforts to understand the impact of COVID-19 closures and responded quickly with programs, resources and policy shifts including business surveying and comprehensive needs assessments, curation of local, state and federal resources and information, responsive programming to help maintain economic vitality and communication platforms to connect and inform businesses. Adding the outdoor ice skating rink in Olde town Square and a Holiday Pop-Up Market to help businesses continue selling goods and servicing customers safely is just one more step in the recovery effort. A cross-section of local partners make up the Arvada Resiliency Task Force including the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Arvada Economic Development Association, Arvada Visitor’s Center, City of Arvada, Olde Town Business Improvement District, Apex Parks and Recreation, Red Rocks Community College, Community First Foundation, Thrive Workplace and The Arvada Center.
