Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program Now Accepting Applications

The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced it is accepting applications for the Advanced Industries (AI) Accelerator Grant program. Proof of Concept and Early-Stage Capital and Retention applications are due Sept. 8. Apply online here.

Proof of Concept grants are open to Colorado research universities, federal labs located in Colorado, and other labs with valid technology transfer offices. These grants are for pre-commercialization research and commercialization preparation. Grants up to $150,000 will be awarded. Early Stage Capital and Retention grants fund companies commercializing innovative technologies to create viable products that meet a market need and can be created or manufactured in Colorado and exported globally. Grants up to $250,000 will be awarded. Past recipients include Colorado companies and universities with technologies that could improve 3D printing, doctor/patient interactions and farming. Applications are reviewed by committees of business, technical and financial experts, as well as by an industry-specific reviewer. The AI Accelerator Program was created in 2013 to promote growth and sustainability in Colorado’s advanced industries by helping drive innovation, accelerating commercialization, encouraging public-private partnerships, increasing access to early stage capital and creating a strong ecosystem that increases the state’s global competitiveness.

Colorado’s advanced industries include:

  • aerospace
  • advanced manufacturing
  • bioscience
  • electronics
  • energy and natural resources
  • infrastructure engineering
  • technology and information

The application process for infrastructure grants will open on Feb. 1, 2018 and applications will be due on April 1, 2018. Infrastructure grants provide state funding to collaborative projects that will have a broad industry-wide impact across one or more of Colorado’s advanced industries. For more information about the Advanced Industries Accelerator Program, including upcoming informational sessions, guidelines and grant cycles, click here.
